Thanks to Everyone!
Last night my derby league, The Jet City Rollergirls, had our first public appearance at the Everett Events Center during Rat City's Season 3 opener. At the beginning of the event we demonstrated the rules of rollerderby for the crowd and I got to be the lead jammer! It was really hard to hear the announcer while skating and I was in my own little star struck world....probably doing the exact opposite of what I was supposed to be doing, but whatever!
At halftime we went up against the Rat City Girls in Last Woman Standing. The object is to try to knock girls down or completely out of bounds until there's one left standing. I managed to stay on my skates throughout the game but a ref that was really watching the boundary called me out about halfway through for touching the rope. Grrrr....I wanted to at least fall with some flair! It's funny, when we prepared for this game in practice it seemed to go on forever. Last night it felt like maybe 2 minutes and it was over.
A big thanks for everyone who came out to support Jet City! After our half-time show at least 1/3 of the crowd left....which seemed to send a strong message of how many people came out to see us :)
