Oly Rollers

The Baron and I headed down to Olympia last night to watch the Oly Rollers flat track derby team host their first home court game. They were up against Lava City Roller Dolls out of Bend, OR. who Oly had previously beaten back in February in Bend. I was very curious to find out if the rumors I had heard about the Oly Rollers were true....that the girls were hard hitters, excellent skaters, and came from strong roller-sports backgrounds. Yes, Hell yes, and yes.

The Oly Rollers to say it simply, are incredible. I would love to see them play some games in the northwest that would challenge them...such as Rose and Rat city because they are definitely ready. The skaters that stick out on my mind are Sassy, Tannibal Lector, and Riot Grrl, but there were many others who were also bad ass. Their agility, speed, and almost telepathic team-work reminds me a lot of DLF.

Yeah Oly! You guys rocked my Saturday night!
