Yippeee

Gus and I travelled up to Bellingham last Saturday so I could compete in my first triathlon. The Lake Padden triathlon was a lot of fun, very scenic, very hilly, and very nice weather. I had a small panic attack at the beginning of the swim because I started out too fast and couldn't catch my breath. After a few breast strokes I got over it and finished the swim strongly. On the bike portion I felt like I was on the tour de france blowing by everyone on the hills....then everyone I passed caught up to me on the running portion. Overall I highly recommend a triathlon over a marathon...much less mental anguish and the time goes by faster. And I think Gus appreciated the fact that he could just sit in the same place at the transition area and play Mario Cart.

Doggies!

Beautiful Jimi Bean and Handsome Stevie Ray caught in a stoic moment.

Drive-In Fun

Finally convinced Gus to go to the Drive-In Theatre with me. It's maybe a mile from our house and we can always see a movie playing when we take our exit from the interstate. The movie playing was none other than....Cars. It was really a neat atmosphere. There were young kids playing football, high school kids hanging out, older folks relaxing, and the place was nearly packed. And the best part is that it's always a 2 for the price of 1. We didn't stay for the late movie cause I had to work in the morning, but it will definitely be a repeated experience :)

A nice Saturday night

After all the anguish and sleepless nights I decided to go to my friends wedding instead of the high school reunion. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous. They took their vows on the back of the yacht with downtown Seattle behind them, then the boat cruised around Lake Washington so we could all stare at the huge mansions on the shoreline. Gus got to see Bill Gate's mansion for the first time and we were reminded of how many obscenely rich people live in this area. During the toast to the bride and groom this funny/not so funny comment was made by the best man: "They always say nice guys finish last. "Bob" is the nicest guy you'll ever meet". Everyone started clapping and sighing, while Gus and I are looking at each other like, do they understand what he just said???
